Importance of Kitchen Updates

When you want to update your home’s interior, but don’t know which room to start with, consider the kitchen and bath. If you don’t often have guests overnight, the bathroom may be less critical than the kitchen. People who enjoy cooking and meal preparations may also be more comfortable and happy with an updated kitchen first. We can help you decide which features and styles will work best with your lifestyle and your home. Newest Kitchen Design Trends

Open plans

While open floor plans are nothing new, this trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. When the kitchen is open to dining or living rooms, you can communicate with guests while preparing meals or drinks. Families with small children usually prefer an open kitchen to keep an eye on them while they cook.

Quartz countertops

Quartz is just as elegant as granite. It blends well with modern or more traditional kitchen decor. Quartz is also easier to maintain than other countertop materials, including granite.

Islands

Kitchen islands will remain popular. However, the multi-tiered islands are no longer as desirable. Single level islands with some space for eating or gathering will remain popular.

Ceiling features

Ceiling designs such as with coffered ceilings accentuate the space. They can also complement design features of the cabinetry or the island, for a more sophisticated look in the kitchen.  Check out this video for some great examples.

Integrating appliances

Integrating the appliances into the cabinetry makes sense, for those who want a streamlined or classy look in the kitchen. Appliances then become part of the kitchen style, instead of the dull, unattractive surface that draws attention away from other style elements.

Use White

White doesn’t get old like bolder colors do if done right. Cabinetry, walls, and backsplashes look good in white. They also allow homeowners to change the color of the accent pieces occasionally, for a simple way to give the kitchen a fresh look. White can also be used on tile floors. What’s important when using white, is to consider the many different shades of “whites” and choose the colors that work best together.
